Standing Together with Families Affected by Heavy Rainfall and Waterlogging

In response to the recent heavy rainfall and waterlogging that impacted different parts of Bangladesh, SHED Board, with the generous financial support of BMS-UK, successfully implemented an Emergency Cash Assistance Program for selected vulnerable and disadvantaged families in the Khulna region.

This timely humanitarian support enabled affected families to purchase essential food, medicine, safe drinking water, and other basic necessities, providing much-needed relief during a challenging time.

The recent monsoon has brought devastating floods and landslides across Chattogram and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, leaving thousands of families struggling to rebuild their lives. Many lost their homes, livelihoods, and access to basic necessities within a matter of hours.

In response to this humanitarian emergency, SHED Board, with the generous financial support of our valued partner BMS UK, provided emergency cash assistance to affected families on 28 July 2026, helping them meet their most urgent needs and begin the journey toward recovery.

Khulna, Bangladesh: The Director of Social Health Education Development Board (SHED Board), Mr. Bijoy Biswas, recently completed an official visit to several SHED Board-supported project areas in the southern region of Bangladesh.

During the visit, Mr. Biswas traveled to Musuria, Shantikutir, Gollamari, Baptist Shishu Sadan, Martin Luther School, Kaligonj, and BMIS, Dhaka, where he met with project staff, teachers, local stakeholders, and beneficiaries. The visit aimed to observe ongoing activities, encourage field teams, and strengthen the organization’s commitment to improving education, health, and community development.

As part of the visit, Mr. Bijoy Biswas attended a Health Protection Materials Distribution Program, where essential health protection items were distributed among beneficiaries. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of maintaining good health practices and appreciated the dedication of staff and volunteers who continue serving communities with commitment and compassion.

The Director expressed his gratitude to all project personnel for their sincere efforts in implementing SHED Board’s mission across different communities. He encouraged everyone to continue working together to ensure quality services and sustainable development for children, families, and vulnerable populations.

SHED Board successfully organized a “Workshop on How to Set-Up & Provide Disaster Relief” on 21 May 2026 at 33 Senpara Parbata, Mirpur, Dhaka, with the generous support of BMS-UK. Participants from four different regions of Bangladesh — Khulna, Chattagram, Sylhet, and Rangpur — joined this important training program to strengthen their knowledge and preparedness for disaster response and relief activities.

The workshop focused on developing practical skills, teamwork, and effective strategies for providing emergency support to vulnerable communities during times of disaster. Through discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions, participants gained valuable insights into disaster preparedness, relief management, and community-based response initiatives.

SHED Board remains committed to empowering communities and building a stronger, compassionate response network for the future. Together, we continue working towards hope, action, and transformation for those in need.
